Biography

I am from Tokyo, Japan, and after spending some time as a student to complete an MSc in Sociological Research Methods and a PhD in Sociology at the University of Edinburgh, I began to work on several inter-disciplinary research projects. Initially I was based in School of Education as a research fellow investigating the use of new technologies for teaching and learning in formal as well as informal settings. After that, I moved to School of Medicine by taking up another e-learning related project in theLearning Technology Section and then I began to get involved in eHealth related projects in the Centre for Population Health Sciences. I like working on inter-disciplinary research projects applying concepts from the sociology of technology to understand the mutual transformation processes between new technologies and users and their implications to the changing certain concepts, existing practices and organizational changes.
